Clone Kitty
Belle, also known as Clone Kitty online, is a gorgeous white ragdoll cat, a clone of her original called Chai. Chai was a beautiful cat who had a difficult start in life, having been bred by a substandard breeder who did not care for her as they should have – leaving her with some non-genetic health issues.
However, she was adopted by Kelly Anderson, who gave her a happy, heathy life and loved her very much. Unfortunately, Chai passed away in March 2017 due to some complications following a surgery to remove a foreign object she had ingested – the veterinary surgeon’s best guess was a delayed reaction to the anesthesia.
Kelly was heartbroken to have lost her beloved Chai and was searching for a way to carry forward a piece of Chai to honour her memory. She found our partners ViaGen Pets & Equine and set about starting the cloning process, looking forward to meeting Chai’s legacy.
In August 2021, Belle was born. She looks very similar to Chai, with some small differences in colour markings – a phenomenon due to epigenetic factors. According to Kelly, they have some small differences in behaviour and personality but Belle retains Chai’s bold and sassy temperament.
Kelly has created a prominent online presence for Belle, dispelling stereotypes and myths about cloning and answering questions from followers around the world.
